Classes and Workshops available for Tweens & Teens:

After School Tweens Yoga Class age 11-14 years

The Tweens classes are structured around supporting positive emotions, physical strengths and connecting with nature and the seasons. We begin with a warm up, a breathing exercise and a Sharing Circle and then we explore movement with Yoga dances, Partner Yoga and Yoga games. We end with some mindfulness practice and a short meditation under our comfy blankets on the mats. The Tween stage brings a lot of change for kids, both physically and emotionally, on their way to the teenage years. The healthy balance of yoga, dance, mindfulness, meditation and fun in this class helps to build resilience, emotional intelligence and inner strength.

Tweens Holiday Workshop age 11-14 years

Our holiday workshops include cool yoga poses, YogaDances, breathing exercises to encourage peace and inner strength and energy sensing. In the break, you can enjoy a snack and create a funky gift to take home. Mindfulness exercises and meditation are also a key part of the workshop so you will enjoy a great relaxation too!

Yoga for Me – building self-esteem:

Half a million people in the UK practice mindfulness, yoga and meditation, with a 25% year on year increase – among them Harry Styles, Ryan Giggs, Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kaley Cuoco and Mick Jagger! It is taught in many schools across the country both as part of the curriculum and as an after-school activity. Mindfulness has particularly seen a huge growth in recent years as the research in the field has proved without a doubt that mindfulness increases well-being. This series of workshops enables young adults to develop their own yoga practice, which has a beneficial impact upon’ physical, emotional and mental well-being:

  • the physical posture work alongside the breathing and visualization techniques learnt in sessions give young people the ability to notice the flux in their emotions and utilise these skills independently
  • Concentration levels
  • Attainment and progress levels
  • Develop techniques for managing anxiety throughout adolescence, and improved self-esteem.

After School Teens Yoga Class age 15-17 years

The teenage years bring lots of challenges as well as very exciting times, on the journey towards independence! The practice of yoga, dance and other types of movement, mindfulness and meditation, can be incredibly beneficial at this stage of life. Learning different ways to stretch and move is great for the body; learning breathing techniques and mindfulness exercises is great for the mind. We work with a different theme for each class and after starting with a Sharing Circle to talk about how we're feeling that day, we explore our theme using Yoga dances, Partner Yoga, Group Mandalas, Dance, Tai Chi, breathing techniques, mindfulness exercises and energy sensing. We then finish with a relaxing meditation or guided visualisation.

Teens Holiday Yoga Workshop age 15-17 years

Our Teen holiday Yoga Workshops will begin with breathing exercises and then we move on to short yoga poses, YogaDances, dance exercises, moving affirmations and mindfulness exercises. After a short break and craft activity, we explore sensing energy through the chakra system, dance techniques from around the world and we work more deeply into yoga poses, finishing with a relaxing meditation.

Managing Anxiety

Using yoga to calm and strengthen the mind – dealing with teenage anxiety is a growing concern for parents and adults who work with young people. Anxiety can arise at any stage during adolescent development; using yoga and mindfulness can help young adults cope with their feelings and offer them an outlet through movement, breathing and mindful thinking by being in the moment.

Exam Stress to Success

Focusing upon managing exam stress is something that Lou is passionate about; today our young people are faced with immense pressure and no time more so when it comes to studying for exams. Learning some simple techniques to manage this stress can help young learners to be successful when applying themselves both in preparation for and during exam periods.

Lou is a qualified Teen Yoga teacher, and is a fully accredited specialist teacher with Yoga Alliance Professionals and is really looking forward to offering these wonderful workshops to our Teens!
